Certificate of Need (CON) Technical Advisory Committees

Certificate of Need (CON) Technical Advisory Committees

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 31-6-21(a), the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is required to review and update the CON State Health Plan every five years beginning in 2025 to ensure the plan meets the evolving needs of the state. The CON State Health Plan defines the need methodologies, standards, and rationale used to evaluate projects involving facilities and services requiring a CON.

In accordance with O.C.G.A. §§ 31-6-21(c) and 50-4-4, the Commissioner may establish a technical advisory committee (TAC), in consultation with the Board, to inform effective strategy development and execution.

DCH is establishing a TAC to review the CON State Health Plan, as provided below. The TAC will evaluate financial access, the geographic availability of services, and other factors to recommend rule updates.
