Design and Construction Forms for Healthcare Facilities
The following information is for Healthcare Facilities (i.e. hospitals, nursing homes and ambulatory surgical treatment centers):
All construction projects involving renovations, alterations or additions and all new construction projects must be submitted to the Office of Health Planning, Plans Review Unit, for review and approval in writing before construction begins.

Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities
State rules require that construction projects comply with the current edition of the FGI Guidelines that are in force and accepted by the Department when the project is submitted to the Architect for review.
Guidelines for Design for Construction of Nursing Homes/Skilled Nursing Facilities
State rule requires that nursing home/skilled nursing facility construction comply with HFRD rules and regulations regarding nursing home facilities:

News regarding updated FGI Codes for 2026:
FGI anticipates the new 2026 codes for Hospital, Outpatient and Residential facilities will be released toward the end of Spring to Summer 2026. The FGI Code Handbooks are expected to be released in Fall 2026. Please follow FGI on LinkedIn or on their website for the latest information regarding the new 2026 Facility Code release dates.
