Plan Option Descriptions
CIGNA and UnitedHealthCare each offer SHBP members a Wellness or a Standard plan under the following options. The Wellness Plan Options are part of a multi-year Wellness Program. Each year a member electing one of the Wellness Plans promises to take additional steps toward better health than members who enroll in a Standard Plan. Once enrolled in a Wellness Plan, members must complete those additional steps to retain eligibility for a Wellness Plan the following year.
- Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)*
- High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)*
- Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
- Medicare Advantage PPO - Retirees and their spouses age 65 and older enrolled in Medicare Part B
- Tricare Supplement - military eligible members under age 65
Plan Option Definitions
HRA - a consumer driven health plan option where SHBP puts cash in your account each year and you choose how you spend your health care dollars.
HDHP - provides coverage for members for a low monthly premium. In return for the lower premiums, members must meet a larger deductible before the Plan pays benefits. This Option may also be coupled with a Health Savings account that may provide members with investment opportunities. This savings account may be available through the State Personnel Administration (SPA) if your flexible benefits are administered by them or through an independent financial institution.
HMO members must use network providers to have their expenses paid. Services performed in a physician's office are paid at 100 percent after the member pays a nominal co-payment.
MA PPO - plan offered to retirees and/or their dependents enrolled in at least Medicare Part B.
