DCH Thanks Norman Boyd for His Dedicated Service as Chairman of the Board of Community Health

Chairman Norman Boyd of the Board of Community Health has stepped down after serving in this role for 12 years. Boyd will remain an active board member, and DCH thanks him for his dedicated work, servant leadership and steady hand that guided the Board and agency under the tenure of seven commissioners. Boyd joined the Board of Community Health in 2009 when he was appointed by then-Governor Sonny Perdue.

“I respect this organization so much because they're so dedicated to the mission of a healthy Georgia,” Boyd said at the October board meeting. “They work tirelessly for the betterment of our Georgia citizens, and it has been an honor and a great privilege to serve as chairman of this board."

Following a vote by the Board, former Vice Chairman Roger Folsom, who has served on the Board of Community Health since 2014, will now lead the board of nine members, charged with providing governance over the agency’s Medicaid programs, State Health Benefit Plan, Healthcare Facility Regulation Division, State Office of Rural Health, and the Certificate of Need program, among other enterprise units. Cynthia Rucker, previously Secretary of the Board, was voted in as Vice Chair, and Dr. Thomas Hopkins was voted in as Secretary.
