What Does Mental Health Parity Mean for You?

Federal and state parity laws were created to protect consumers with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Parity laws make sure certain types of health plans cover mental health and substance use disorders as fully as other health issues. Georgia’s mental health parity law is HB1013.

Mental Health Parity Complaint Portal

Use the portal below if you think you have a mental health parity complaint concerning Medicaid (including Georgia Pathways to Coverage™), PeachCare for Kids®, or the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). Your complaint will be reviewed by a representative of the Department of Community Health and routed for resolution.

If your complaint does not concern Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, or SHBP, it should be submitted to the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire’s complaint portal. 

 This portal has been established pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 33-21A-13.
