Advisory Board Meeting Information

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Advisory Board on Rural Health shall be to: advise and make recommendations to the Commissioner of the Department of Community Health (SORH) about rural health care issues, advocate for rural communities on health care, and serve as an advisory board for the State Office of Rural Health.

The Advisory Board will advise the State Office of Rural Health and the Department of Community Health through: 

  • Input on issues related to the health status of rural populations in Georgia 

  • Serve as a link with rural communities 

  • Leadership in the development of a rural health strategic plan for Georgia 

  • Advocacy for competent initiatives and community partnerships that proactively address ways to improve the health of rural populations, eliminate disparities, improve access and enhance service coordination and effectiveness 

  • Guidance on State Office of Rural Health program priorities and policies for rural health
