Executive Leadership Announcement: James Howgate

ATLANTA - Please join us in welcoming James Howgate as the newest member of the Department of Community Health (DCH) Executive Leadership Team. James joined the team March 12, 2018 and will serve as a Deputy Commissioner.

James earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia in 1991 and a Master of Public Health in epidemiology in 2000 from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.  In 2000, James moved to Atlanta to work for the Georgia Emerging Infections Program in the Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases where he managed multiple federally funded epidemiological studies. From there James moved to the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia in February of 2005. In 2009, James took a position at the State level in the Division of Public health, which in 2011 became a stand-alone Department when he began serving as the Chief of Staff for the agency. From July of 2017 through January of 2018, James served as the Senior Advisor to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

We are excited that James will be serving on the DCH Executive Leadership Team and we look forward to working with him in his new role.
