GA-HITREC - Technical Assistance

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act authorizes a Health Information Technology Extension Program that includes more than 60 Regional Extension Centers around the country.  These centers have been established to support health care providers to become adept and meaningful users of electronic health records (EHRs).

The NationalCenter for Primary Care (NCPC), located at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, serves as the GeorgiaHealthInformationTechnologyRegionalExtensionCenter (GA-HITREC).  GA-HITREC’s mission is to use a community-oriented approach to assist health care professionals, as well as small and rural hospitals, with the selection, implementation and meaningful use of certified EHR systems to improve clinical outcomes and the quality of patient care provided.

Group purchasing plans and technical assistance are available to all eligible providers participating in either the Medicare or Medicaid incentive programs.
