Georgia Department of Community HealthThe Department of Community Health is a consolidation of several health-related state agencies including Medical Assistance, State Health Benefit Plan and State Health Planning Agency. SB 241/Act #268 amended Title 31 to create the Department of Community Health in 1999 to serve as the lead planning agency for all health issues in the state such as health care policy, purchasing, planning and regulation. The department aims to be a national leader for innovative health planning, promotion, program and services to improve community health.
