DCH Commissioner Appoints New State Health Benefit Plan Director

ATLANTA Today, Clyde Reese, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH), announced the appointment of Trudie Nacin as Director of the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP).  Ms. Nacin was formerly the SHBP Deputy Director and has worked in the insurance and managed care industry since the 1980s. 

“Trudie has shown exemplary leadership and management skills necessary to maintain SHBP’s integrity and the Department’s overall mission,” said Reese.  “I am pleased to offer her this well deserved promotion.”

In her new role, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of SHBP, which provides health insurance coverage to state employees, school system employees, retirees and their dependents.  As of June 1, 2010, the plan covered 685,100 people.

During her nine year tenure with DCH, Ms. Nacin has also served as SHBP Director of Operations, Medicaid Eligibility and Third Party Services Director, and SHBP Review Services Manager.

Ms. Nacin earned a master's degree in business administration from Brenau University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Florida.    She enjoys gardening and traveling and belongs to the State Association of Local and Government BenefitAssociation (SALGBA).
