ATLANTA - Today, the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) State Registrar and Vital Records Division Director Ken Bramlett was awarded a Governor’s Commendation for his achievements in Customer Service.  Bramlett was chosen because of his exemplary skills in handling constituent inquiries.

The Governor’s Office of Customer Service (OCS) honors a handful of the most outstanding teams and employees for their work each quarter.  State employees and teams may be nominated by peers, leadership or customers.  Bramlett was nominated by people from all of these categories.

Said Clyde L. Reese, III, Esq., Commissioner of DCH, "For his exemplary customer service, his willingness to take anything on and for making the lives of the citizens of Georgia less complicated when they need a certification from Vital Records, Ken Bramlett is a credit to DCH and to the state."

Vital Records receives approximately 19 percent of all calls, e-mails and letters directed to DCH Constituent Services.  In addition to handling calls and resolving situations quickly himself, Bramlett’s philosophy about staff empowerment has led to better and quicker resolutions for customers.

Bramlett has been working at his present position since July 1, 2009.  Prior to this position, he served as Director of the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) Office of Investigative Services from 1999 until 2009.

Bramlett has had a long career in law enforcement and the military.  He was Assistant Director for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission prior to serving with DHR.  Before that, he worked with the Cobb County Georgia Police Department from 1975 until 1998, serving in all areas of law enforcement including Internal Affairs Commander and Criminal Investigations Commander.  Bramlett enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1972 and was on active duty until 1975.

He graduated from Georgia Law Enforcement Command College in 2005 and in 2006 he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Management from Shorter College.  Bramlett completed a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Columbus State University in December 2009.
