DCH Launches H1N1 Communication Tool for Georgians

ATLANTA– Dr. Rhonda Medows, State Health Officer and Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) Commissioner, announced the launch of Georgia’s H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Provider Locator.  The tool will make it easier for the public to locate a provider that is participating in the 2009 H1N1 vaccination campaign. 

“I am encouraged by the questions that parents, caregivers and doctors are asking about the 2009 H1N1 flu and the 2009 H1N1 vaccine,” said Dr. Medows.  “Georgia’s enhanced H1N1 Web page and the H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Provider Locator will make it easier for Georgians to get the answers to those questions and locate a provider that will be offering the 2009 H1N1 vaccine in their facility.”

The H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Provider Locator is an online search tool that allows a user to locate a 2009 H1N1 vaccine provider with four simple steps.  

1. Log on to health.state.ga.us/h1n1flu
2. Click on the H1N1 Provider Locator button
3. Enter a 5-digit zip code and select your preferred distance for travel to the provider’s office
4. Click on ‘Search for a Provider’

The tool will populate a list of providers within a 2 mile to 30 mile radius based on the distance from the zip code entered.  The public should call in advance to confirm current availability of the 2009 H1N1 vaccine prior to arriving at a provider’s office.
