Medicare
SHBP Retirees
Things to remember when you become eligible for Medicare
-
Once you enroll in one of the SHBP Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans, you will receive a cancellation from your Part D provider. DO NOT enroll in another Medicare or Supplemental Part D Plan. Doing so will cause you to lose your SHBP coverage.
-
If you elect not to enroll in one of the SHBP Medicare Advantage with prescription drugs (MAPD) private fee for service (PFFS) Plans, you may select from any of the other SHBP options and pay the entire cost of the coverage. Medicare will be your primary coverage and SHBP will pay secondary benefits.
-
Should you elect to enroll in one of the Non SHBP options you will also need to enroll in Medicare Part A, B and D in order to reduce your SHBP Premium.
