Diagnosis Related Groups
The Division of Medical Assistance uses Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) to reimburse hospitals for services to Medicaid recipients. DRGs are a system of classifying inpatient hospital services based on a person's medical diagnosis, any secondary diagnoses, surgical procedures, age, sex and presence of any complications.
