Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Implementation

The Georgia Department of Community Health's (DCH) Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) is an integration of computer systems that work together to process Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® claims and other pertinent information related to the management of the Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® programs.

The new Georgia Medicaid Management Information system went into production on November 1, 2010. We are in currently in the post implementation/monitoring phase of the project and will move to the normal Operational Phase February 1, 2011.

Interim Provider Payments

The Interim Provider Payment Process will ensure that Medicaid providers are successfully reimbursed for valid covered services to members when the provider is unable to be paid through the Georgia Medicaid Management Information System (GAMMIS). This process will be implemented AFTER GAMMIS go-live. It is anticipated this process will only be utilized in the event valid claims or EDI submissions are unable to be processed within a reasonable time period. The underlying system issue will be high priority for resolution.

Interim Provider Payments will be issued at the request of the provider and submitted via e-mail or fax to DCH. Please see additional documentation below:

About MMIS
  • The new MMIS gives clients and health care providers easy, secure and efficient access to Georgia's Medicaid program information
  • The new MMIS replaces the existing MMIS and significantly enhances the claims processing and related activities for DCH-managed programs, such as PeachCare for KidsTM and Medicaid
  • Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services (HP) is the new fiscal agent for DCH's MMIS and will design, develop and implement a new Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS). HP is a California-based company with more than 35 years of experience in the health care industry
